Acting Chair of Governors - Lynne Duckett

Lynne Duckett has been a Local Authority Governor at Radford Primary School for the past 4 years. Lynne has lived and worked in Nottingham for most of her life. She is now retired and spends a lot of time with her 6 grandchildren. Her other interests include family history, travel, walking and art.

Lynne has worked in education for the whole of her career, especially in the field of Special Educational Needs (SEN), holding various roles in both Nottinghamshire County and Nottingham City, latterly as Head of the Inclusive Education Service. She spent a number of years teaching in Canada. Most recently she worked as part of a National SEN Consultancy completing work for the DfE, her main focus being the London boroughs. On retiring she could not imagine giving up her involvement in education and is very pleased to be a Governor at Radford Primary School.

Lynne says “I know of the professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm of the Head Teacher and staff at Radford in working with families and children to help give those children the best possible start in life and in all aspects of their learning. I hope that in my role as a School Governor I am able to make a positive contribution in assisting with this”.

LA Governor - Leonie Meikle

Leonie Meikle has been a governor at Radford Primary School for almost 4 years. Prior to this she helped to run an after school club and summer play schemes based at the school. Leonie has 15 years experience of leading and managing governing body services, both for Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council. She has been a governor since 1985 and is currently a governor in a special school and two primary schools.

Prior to working for governor services Leonie was employed by Nottinghamshire County Council as a Policy Officer and prior to that also Community Development Officer. In this latter role she helped to establish voluntary and community organisations to provide a range of support services for children and families. She also has further education teaching experience.

Leonie has a MSc in Human Resource Development, BA n Social Policy and Administration and a Post Graduate Diploma in Training Management.

Staff Teacher - Kirsty Booth

My name is Kirsty Booth and I have taught in Key Stage 1 at Radford Academy since 2014. I started as an NQT. Prior to this I studied History and Education at Bishop Grosseteste University before completing a PGCE at Nottingham Trent. I coordinate History across the school and also support provision for the more able pupils. My interests include reading, travelling and cooking.

Community Governor - Sooree Pillay

My name is Sooree Pillay and I work as creative producer at New Art Exchange, Hyson Green. As a specialist in theatre and performance, and leading the young people’s programme at NAE, I believe that art and culture is a key part of a child’s life, and has the potential to enrich and deepen understanding of the world and others, as well as building confidence in creatively articulating ideas.

I have been a governor at Radford since 2015, prior to this delivering workshops and introducing artists to this and other schools in Nottingham. I very much enjoy working with the children and teachers and I hope, in some small way, contributing to enjoyment and achievement in school life.  I would like my presence as a governor, and as a parent of two, to assist this fantastic school as we continue on our journey!

Community Governor - Helen James

I have previously been a class teacher at Radford Primary School for almost 20 years. I had to retire early due to ill-health.  I had been a Staff Governor for many years, and more recently a Community Governor for 2 years. I have lived and worked in Nottingham all my life, after leaving school I was a civil-servant at Land Registry before deciding to train at Trent University to become a Primary teacher.  I am so pleased I can continue to be part of the school as a governor. Radford Primary continues to offer so much to the diverse, vibrate community it serves. The school has a great, very positive atmosphere and is very welcoming.

Staff Governor - Gillian Holmes

My name is Gillian Holmes (Gill) and I have worked at Radford Primary School since September 1989, initially as a Clerical Assistant and then as the Office Manager.  I retired as the Office Manager in April 2009 having worked for four Headteachers and an amazing history of the school’s development.  I am now working part-time as a Senior Midday Supervisor as well as being a governor at Radford which I am enjoying enormously.  This gives me the opportunity to be involved in the continuing development of the school.  Hobbies I love to do are cooking, sewing and gardening along with being a hands on granny.

Parent Governor - Kayleigh Carney

My name is Kayleigh, I live in the community and have a daughter called Willow who attends Radford Academy.  I am a Parent Volunteer at the school and I enjoy the interaction with the children and helping them to read.

My interests are watching Disney movies with my daughter, we are big Disney fans!  I also enjoy days out with Willow, reading, cooking and socialising with friends.
