Radford Academy Girls Football Team

Well done to the girl’s football team. Five girls from year 6 and Three from year 5 competed in the Nottingham Schools Football Association tournament held at The Power League. All the girls played well. Despite not winning a game they tried very hard, drawing their first game 1-1 with what turned out to be the only goal which was scored by Lacey. It was a lack of finishing that cost them the  second game, two long range shots in a packed goal mouth  left the keeper Tania unsighted. If not for the keeper we would have conceded more. The defensive pair of Tawana and Rosie was strong, only conceding 5 goals in four games. There was also a strong presence in midfield with Iqra and Nevaeh and striker Blessing commanding the opposition goal mouth, coming very close to scoring on several occasions and hitting the post twice. Our substitute Nikola did get involved and wasn’t afraid to challenge girls much stronger than her. This was a very good performance all round and I’m looking forward to our next game. Well done to all the girls and a massive thank you to Miss Watson for her support and enthusiasm.
