Stephen takes over from Meeta Dave, who has retired having led the school with dedication for more than a decade.
With a career in education spanning over 14 years, Stephen brings extensive leadership experience and a passion for helping children thrive.
Since qualifying as a teacher in 2010, he has held senior roles in four different schools, including two others within the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust – Witham St Hughs Academy and Sycamore Academy – both of which, he says, offered valuable experiences that have prepared him for this new position.
He also spent three years teaching at a military school in Cyprus, giving him unique insights into education in diverse settings.
Alongside his teaching career, Stephen draws inspiration from over 20 years’ experience as a football referee. He credits refereeing with honing his leadership skills, teaching him to stay calm under pressure, and to make confident decisions even in demanding circumstances – qualities that now underpin his approach to school leadership.
Stephen joins Radford Academy at an important time in its journey. The school, which plays a central role in the Radford community, has built a reputation for providing children with a safe, supportive, and inspiring place to learn. As the new Headteacher, Stephen will be responsible for building on these strong foundations while shaping the next phase of the school’s development.
